In embedded development, ports are very important since it provides ease of interfacing. The resistor acts as limiter for possible surges and voltage reference for supplies. The capacitors help in stabilizing component while in operation. The Transient-Voltage-Suppression (TVS) diode secures the circuit from possible voltage spikes and other types of faults. The UART transceiver IC secures the RS-232 port operation, which has low-dropout transmitter output stage enabling true RS-232 performance from a 3.0V to 5.5V supply with a dual charge pump. It receives and transmits signals from a USB port and UART port with the transceiver. It provides the interface between the USB and UART with only few external components is required. The design is comprised of USB2SERA11CFK bridge controller IC that serves as the main component of the system. The main component has built-in user configurable password that protects device from additional parameter modification. It features a USB 2.0 port with a data transfer speed of 12Mbps and a UART that supports 8 bit data, 1 or 2 stop bits and odd, even or no parity. It enables the user to simplify designs by providing a UART port to a common USB embedded application. This design features a USB to UART controller component.
