They married on 27 July 1365, at Windsor Castle. Her husband had been brought to England in 1360 as a hostage exchanged for the freedom of John II of France, an English prisoner. He was a son of Enguerrand VI, Lord of Coucy and Katharina von Habsburg. Eventually, she was permitted to marry Enguerrand VII, Lord of Coucy, a wealthy French lord. She had previously been the subject of various betrothal proposals, however, which had failed.
